SoSA’s vision is a Summit County region that is a successful model of a sustainable community. Partners work together across sectors to create and enhance a thriving community surrounded by a healthy natural environment.
SoSA supports this vision by creating a sustainability forum in the Summit County region to unite nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, governmental entities, and for‐profit businesses as they work together to inform policy, improve practices, and support innovation.

"Home is where the heart is".

HAPPY EARTH MONTH 2026
Wherever your travels take you, its always wonderful to return home. Let's make sure our home is always safe, protected and in our hearts.
Life on Land Team - PLANT OF THE MONTH
May Tree of the Month: Tulip tree. This tree is very beneficial to insects and grows fast, making it great for your yard if you can plant it far from your home - they are prone to lightning strikes.
May Shrub of the Month: Elderberry. This shrub provides food to many bird and mammal species, via berries, pollen, and soft branches. The berries should not be eaten raw by humans, but they are used for syrups, teas, and other food products.
May Perennial of the Month: Jack in the Pulpit. This plant becomes hermaphroditic as it ages, with the gained ability to produce berries each Summer. It’s very beneficial to wildlife.
